Would your students want to develop computer games without spending countless hours learning how to become a programmer? Game Maker allows you to make exciting computer games, without the need to write a single line of code. Making games with Game Maker is a lot of fun. Using easy to learn drag-and-drop actions, students can create professional looking games within very little time. Students can make games with backgrounds, animated graphics, music and sound effects, and even 3D games! And when students become more experienced, there is a built-in programming language, which gives them the full flexibility of creating games with Game Maker. What is best, is the fact that Game Maker can be used free of charge. Students can do anything they want with the games they produce, they can even sell them! The Lite version is free but the advanced full featured version is only $25 for those who want to take their new found skills even further.  Sep 29, 2010, 7:32 AM Unknown user

Scratch is a free programming language/editor developed by M.I.T. Scratch is specifically designed to introduce computer programming to the youngest budding programmer, but is powerful enough to allow more advanced users to create more complex programs. Unlike Small Basic which concentrates on coding, Scratch utilizes a drag and drop interface. Success using Scratch has been achieved by students as young as 8. Scratch could be a powerful tool for digital storytelling as well.  Sep 29, 2010, 7:35 AM Unknown user
