Digital Storytelling - Animoto provides an array of tools for creating videos for digital storytelling in your classroom.

Digital Storytelling - ZooBurst is a digital storytelling tool that lets anyone easily create his or her own 3D pop-up books. Readers who have a webcam installed on their computer can also experience any ZooBurst book in Augmented Reality. Once a book has been loaded, readers can click on the ‘Webcam Mode’ button at the top of the screen. This button will turn on their webcam and allow them to see themselves as though they were looking in a mirror. From here, visitors can hold up a special symbol to the webcam to watch as the book “flys” out of the paper and into the room around them! In addition, Augmented Reality mode also allows readers the ability to interact with a book using simple gestures. For example, simply waving your hand in front of a book will allow you to turn its pages back and forth.

Starfall is an educational alternative to other entertainment choices for children.

ReadingStory Cove is a free service that hosts audio and video stories based on the folktales from a variety of places and cultures. In all there are twenty-five stories hosted on Story Cove. The stories are divided by their continent of origin. Each story is intended to convey a lesson on culture and society. The stories can be watched as videos or listened to as audio-only recordings.  Story Cove provides a nice selection of lesson plans to accompany each of the stories in its collection. The lesson plans are in PDF form and include handouts for students. The lesson plans are categorized by story and by grade level, pre-K through grade 3. Story Cove also provides printable activities like mazes and word searches to accompany each story.

Resources - Kids.gov is a site hosted by the Federal Government with resources for grades K through 8 in art, technology, money, careers, math, health, social studies, science, language arts and more. 

Spelling-  Spelling City is an online spelling practice site. Teachers or students can enter their word list into the site, and it will generate online practice games and tests, as well as some printable worksheets. The wow factor? It reads not only the spelling words to the students, but it also generates the word in a sentence, and reads the sentence as part of the online practice and test.

Worksheets - Super Teacher Worksheets is a site that has tons of worksheets resources for both language arts and mathematics.  Why re-invent the wheel when you might find what you are looking for here first!

WritingCanTeach Writing and journal prompts

Writing - My StoryMaker lets you control characters and objects - and creates sentences for you! Once you are done with your story, you can print it out. You cannot go back and edit a story once you have ended it but, if you click "yes" when asked to share it with others, you can print it out again by entering the magic number it gives you in the box on the right. Since lack of space forces us to delete story files older than 1 month, please save the .pdf file that prints to your own computer.
